Beat P. Truffer was born on August 3, 1965 and grew up in Zermatt. He studied Economics at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland where he specialized in Marketing. He is currently an executive manager for a leading internationally operating insurance company. He has climbed all four-thousand meter peaks in Switzerland and is acknowledged for his expertise concerning the mountains around Zermatt and their history. His main hobbies are the mountains and photography. His great-grandfather was one of the mountain guides of Edward Whymper, after the first ascent of the Matterhorn.
